Arrival at Tunis airport, assistance from our team, transfer to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will head to the Bardo Museum in Tunis, which houses the largest collection of Roman mosaics. Next, we will explore the Medina of Tunis, where you can visit ancient monuments and traditional souks, including the Kasbah Square and a panoramic visit to the Ezzitouna and Hammouda Pacha Mosques. Lunch along the way. Afterward, we will discover the ruins of Carthage, including Byrsa Hill, the ancient residential quarter, the Tofet (an ancient Punic sanctuary), the Punic ports, and the Antonine Baths. Finally, we will visit Sidi Bou Said, a charming village with blue and white houses, where you will have free time to stroll. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will explore Bulla Regia, an important archaeological site that was a prosperous Roman city in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. Its unique underground houses, with innovative architecture and beautifully preserved mosaics, provide a captivating glimpse into life in ancient Rome. Lunch along the way. Next, we will proceed to Dougga, a crucial archaeological site from the Roman era in Tunisia, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. Its impressive ruins include a theater, a capitol, a forum, thermal baths, houses, a plaza of the rose of winds, a triumphal arch, and a Libyan-Punic mausoleum, among others. Finally, we will head to Kairouan for dinner and overnight stay.
Departure to explore the ancient monuments of Kairouan, including the water cisterns, ancient hydraulic works built by the Aglabid dynasty. We will visit the mausoleum of the Barber, known as Sidi Sahib, and the Great Mosque of Okba, the first mosque built in Tunisia. We will also enjoy a panoramic view of the ancient Mosque of the Three Doors and explore the Medina of Kairouan with its souks and alleys. Lunch along the way. In the afternoon, we will continue to Sbeitla to visit the ruins of Sufeitula, an ancient Byzantine city rich in very well-preserved monuments, such as the Arch of Diocletian, the baths, the theater, the basilicas, the forum, the Capitol, and the baptisteries, among others. Afterwards, we will head to Tozeur, the capital of the country of palms. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will set off to discover the city of Tozeur. We will start with a visit to the Dar Cheraiet Ethnographic Museum, where we can immerse ourselves in local culture. Next, we will venture into the Tozeur palm grove to visit Eden Palm, the palm museum, where we will have the opportunity to taste products derived from palms. Then we will explore the historic center, discovering the typical architecture of the houses with facades clad and decorated with terracotta bricks. After this exploration, we will enjoy a stroll through the date and handicraft market. At the end of the morning, we will return to the hotel for lunch. The afternoon will be free to enjoy the hotel facilities or to participate in an optional 4x4 excursion to the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza, passing through the Ong Ejmel dunes and the Star Wars film set. Dinner at the hotel. For those interested, there is also the possibility of attending a folkloric dinner in the enchanting oasis of Tozeur (optional).
After breakfast, we will head towards Chott El Jerid, the largest salt depression in Tunisia, known for its unusual landscapes. We will continue to the Saharan oasis of Douz, also known as "The Gateway to the Desert." Upon arrival in Douz, a city nicknamed "The Gateway to the Desert," we will visit the village known for its craft workshops producing "Balgha," traditional footwear made from camel leather. There is the possibility of taking a camel ride in the desert (optional). Lunch along the way. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to Ksar Hadada, an ancient collective granary built by nomadic tribes and the location of some scenes from the film "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." Afterwards, we will head to Ksar Ouled Dabbeb for dinner and overnight stay in a charming hotel, an ancient granary transformed into a delightful place.
Departure towards Tataouine, known for its traditional craft market and the opportunity to taste the delicious local sweets called "gazelle horns." Next, we head to Ksar Ouled Soltane, one of the best-preserved granaries in southern Tunisia, with its "Ghorfas" stacked up to 4 levels, which were used in the past as storage for agricultural products after harvest. We continue to Chenini, exploring the village with its troglodyte houses carved into a rocky mountain. Visit the legendary mosque of the Seven Sleepers. After visiting the village of Chenini, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we will head to the island of Djerba via the Roman road. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Departure to the ancient Fadhloun Mosque, representative of the influential architectural style of the Ibadite sect on the island. Next, we visit Guellela, a renowned center for ceramics and terracotta. We proceed to the village of Erriadh, where we visit the ancient synagogue, the most venerated place of worship by the Jewish community (note: during Jewish religious holidays, the visit may not be possible). We will take a stroll through Djerbahood, an open-air street art museum featuring numerous murals. After that, we will explore Houmt-Souk, the island's capital, visiting a Fundouk (an ancient inn) and getting an overview of the Catholic Church of San Giuseppe. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we will enjoy a stroll through the traditional souks, a maze of alleys filled with local handicrafts. Finally, we will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Departure towards the Dhahar mountain range in southeastern Tunisia. We will make a scenic stop in Toujane, an ancient Berber village of unique beauty, nestled among the mountains with spectacular views. Next, we will head to Matmata, a distinctive village known for its underground troglodyte houses and lunar landscapes. We will visit a troglodyte home to immerse ourselves in Berber family life and explore the underground architecture. Additionally, we will venture into the iconic troglodyte hotel Sidi Driss, famous worldwide for its appearance in Star Wars. A typical lunch will be served in a troglodyte home with a Berber family. We will then continue to Sfax, the economic capital of the country, where we will explore the old fortified Medina. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Departure towards El Djem to visit the famous Roman amphitheater dating back to the 3rd century AD, the third largest in the world with a capacity of 35,000 spectators. Next, we will head to Monastir to visit the mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba, the first president and reformer of Tunisia. We will explore the Ribat of Monastir, an ancient Arab fortress from the 8th century with its majestic watchtower. Lunch along the way. We will continue to the city of Sousse, the capital of the Sahel, where we will explore the Arab Medina, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, and enjoy free time to wander through the traditional souks. Afterwards, we will head to Hammamet to visit its ancient Medina located by the sea. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Nabeul, famous for its ceramics. We will start with a brief stroll through the local market, where we can immerse ourselves in the colors and scents of the area. Next, we will head to Kelibia, where we will explore the impressive 5th-century Byzantine fortress, a true historical treasure. We continue our adventure by visiting the ruins of Kerkouene, a UNESCO archaeological site that was once an ancient Punic city destroyed in 310 BC. Here, we will have the opportunity to discover the daily life of the ancient Carthaginians, whose economy was primarily based on fishing and purple dye production. We will have lunch at a local restaurant, savoring typical regional dishes. In the afternoon, we will take a panoramic visit to the ancient underground Punic sandstone quarries in El Haouaria (note: access is restricted due to collapse risks). We will conclude the day with a tasting of the finest Tunisian wines in a traditional workshop. Return to Hammamet for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and, depending on the flight schedule, transfer to the airport for the return flight. End of our services.
