Itinerary

DAY1:ARRIVAL TO TUNISIA

Arrival at Tunis airport, assistance by the tour guide and transfer to Hammamet. Accommodation at Le Sultan 4* hotel or similar.

DAY 2:THE SAHEL COAST AND THE ROMAN AMPHITHEATER

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the Sahel province. Arrival and visit to the Marina Port El Kantaoui. Departure to Sousse, the capital of the Sahel, visit to the Medina declared World Heritage with its traditional souks. Drive to the city of Monastir, visit to the mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba, the first president and founder of the Tunisian Republic. Visit to the Ribat, an ancient fortress dating from the 8th century with its wonderful tour dominating the whole landscape. After lunch, we continue the trip towards El Djem city, visit to the famous Roman amphitheater ranked 3rd in the world with a capacity of 35000 spectators. Drive to Sfax, the economical capital of Tunisia, visit to the ancient Medina with its majestic ramparts and walls. Dinner and overnight in Business Hotel 4* hotel in Sfax.

DAY 3:DJERBA, THE MAGICAL LOTUS ISLAND

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Gabes, a coastal oasis, visit to “Jara” the ancient spice market and Henna plants (a vegetal tint used by Berber women in the traditional wedding). Drive to El Jorf to take the Ferry to the island Djerba. Arrival to the island, and visit to Guellela, the famous pottery village with its underground clay quarries. Drive to the village of Erriadh and visit to La Ghriba, one of the oldest Hebrew synagogues in the world and a place of pilgrimage of the Jewish community of Djerba (During the religious holidays of the Jewish community of Djerba, the visit of the synagogue will not be possible). Departure to Houmt Souk, the capital of the island for a typical lunch based on seafood to savour the culinary art of the island. In the afternoon, visit to the ancient Spanish fortress, a real testimonial of the bloody conflicts that took place on the island between the Spanish and the Turkish. Visit to Souk Errbaa, old traditional covered Market with many typical goods. Dinner and overnight at the typical charm hotel ARISCHA.

DAY 4:KSARS & BERBER VILLAGES

After breakfast, departure to Tataouine and the Berber villages in the mountain range of Dhahar via the roman causeway, the road which connects the island Djerba with the dry land. Arrival to Tataouine, the city which housed the famous Foreign Legion in the French colonial time. Visit to the traditional market of local people. Visit to the prehistorical museum of Dinosaurs’ bones in the sciences city. Departure to Chenini the crest village of sublime beauty with its beautiful houses excavated in the rocks. Wander tour in the village till the small white mosque and the ancient granary on the pick of the mountain. Typical lunch to savour a tasty local Berber menu. After lunch, drive to the Ksar El Farch, former Berber granary with its Ghorfas used to store food. Visit to Ksar Hadada, former granary used by Berber tribes and filming location of the episode “The threat of the Ghost” from the movie “Star Wars”. We continue crossing the Dhahar mountain range till Toujane, with a panoramic break in Toujane, superb Berber village nestled in the mountains. Drive to Matmata famous Berber village of unique beauty known for its dwell cave houses and lunar landscape. Visit to a troglodyte house to discover the way of life among the Berbers. Drive to Douz, the city called «the gate of the Sahara» and possibility to make a camel ride in the sand dunes by the sunset (Optional). Dinner and overnight at Sahara Douz 4 * hotel

DAY 5:THE SALT LAKE & THE CHARM OF THE OASES

Breakfast at the hotel then visit to the typical village of Douz, known with cottage industry of «Babouche», traditional shoes made of camel leather. Drive to Tozeur crossing Chott El Jerid, the largest Salt Lake in Tunisia, short break for photos admiring unusual landscapes of the lake. Arrival to Tozeur, the capital of Bled El Jerid « The land of palms ». Visit to the old city of Tozeur with its house decorated with traditional bricks made of clay and narrow streets covered by palm trunks. After lunch, departure to discover the mountain oases on the Atlas mountain range. Arrival to Chebika oasis and wander tour through the oasis with its stunning landscapes and natural water springs. Drive to Tamerza oasis and visit of the waterfalls and the old abandoned village with wonderful views. Drive back to Tozeur, dinner and overnight at Ksar El Djerid 4* hotel or similar.

DAY 6:KAIROUAN THE HOLY CITY

After breakfast, departure to departure to Sbeitla, visit to the ruins of the ancient byzantine city Sufeitula with its well-preserved monuments such as the Dioclitien arc, the Baths, the Theater, the basilicas, the Forum, the Capitol, the baptistery…etc. Drive to Kairouan, the holly city of Islam and declared World Heritage, arrival and visit to the city and its ancient monuments. Visit to the Aghlabid basins, old water reserves that fed the entire city. Visit to the Abu Zoumaa Al Balaoui Mausoleum called Sid Sahib or the Barber. Visit to the Great Mosque of Okba, that took the name of its founder. Panoramic visit to the ancient mosque called “Three Doors Mosque”. After lunch, visit to the Medina with its souks and narrow streets. Possibility to visit of a carpet weaving workshop. Departure to Hammamet, dinner and overnight at Le Sultan 4* Hotel or similar. 

DAY 7:SIDI BOU SAID & THE COAST OF CARTHAGE

After breakfast, visit to the National Bardo Museum, a former residence for the ottoman monarchs, this actually houses the largest collection of Roman mosaics in the world. Drive to the Medina of Tunis declared world heritage, wander to discover the ancient monuments of the Medina and the traditional souks. Lunch on the way. In the afternoon, visit to the Carthage ruins, the ancient capital of the Punic Empire: the Tophet an ancient Punic sanctuary dedicate to Tanit and Baal Hamon the most worshipped Gods. Visit to ancient Punic harbourswhich housed the commercial and military fleet of Carthage. Visit to ancient roman baths of Anthony. Drive to Sidi Bou Saïd, the Moorish village with its beautiful houses painted in blue and white with their balconies typically decorated with arabesque. Return to Tunis city, dinner and overnight at Royal Victoria 4* hotel.

DAY 8:END OF THE TRIP

Breakfast at the hotel and then departure to the airport for the return flight. End of our services.
