Itinerary of Dahar mountains tour

Early departure from your selected hotel in Djerba via the Roman road towards Tataouine
Dahar massif.
Panoramic stop to admire the Salt Lake “Sobkhet El Meleh”.
Drive towards Tataouine, the famous city which sheltered the battalion of the foreign legion and the famous “Bat d’AF”.
A brief visit to the local market square with typical products such as Babouches (camel
leather shoes) and Burnous (traditional coat in lambswool or camel hair with hood).
Departure to discover the amazing crest villages built by the Berbers on the peaks of the
Dahar mountains offering breathtaking landscapes.
Visit Douiret, an abandoned historic Berber village, containing several troglodyte houses carved in the rocks, oil mills, and an underground mosque with a citadel that occupies the peak of the mountain.
The village had once housed a Berber population with ancestral traditions that numbered around three thousand inhabitants.
Visitors of Douiret will be seduced by the charm of the village and the stunning view.

Drive to Chenini, the only crest village populated by a Berber population of about five hundred inhabitants with its troglodyte houses and Ksars.
This beautiful village is set on the top of a mountain which gives a magnificent view of the Dhahar plateau.
A wander tour in Chenini till the Ksar and the small white mosque.
Then, you’ll enjoy a delicious typical lunch to savor the delights of the ancestral Berber
culinary art.
After lunch, we continue to Guermessa, the last crest village of sublime beauty and stunning architecture topped by a citadel overlooking a beautiful landscape of the Dhahar plateau.
Drive to Ksar Hadada, a former Berber granary for Berber tribes with its Ghorfas, superimposed cells used to store aliments. It is the set location of the Star Wars movie.
